GOD FUCKING DAMNIT

I wanted to draw some fanart of this gorgeous AU idea, but since I didn’t have the time for that today, I wrote a quick little one-shot fanfic on my work lunch break instead. Due to the insistence of my friend, I am posting it… and now I’m going to go run and hide in embarrassment cause I’ve never posted any of my dorky fanfic drabbles anywhere before.

Side note: I took some liberties with Vegeta’s design cause I like my merfolk to look a little creepy… They were, after all, known for dragging sailors to the bottom of the ocean to drown them. ;P

_______________________

At first Bulma had mistaken him for a swimmer, but then logic had argued that her schooner was too far out to sea for that. Then she presumed the next obvious answer. He must be a cast away. Yet, when she called out to try and get his attention so that she could throw him a life ring, he’d done the last thing a shipwrecked sailor would have done at the prospect of rescue- he’d dived.  She waited for him to resurface, but as the moments passed she grew frantic, worried he had drowned. Then there was a silver shimmer of something swimming under the boat, just deep enough that the water hid it from view. It had looked like a rather large fish, perhaps even one of the sharks she’d been sent here to study and capture?

Rushing to the other end of the ship to try and catch another glimpse of the creature, she was greeted by the sight of the man she’d seen swimming before. On closer inspection though, he seemed less human than she’d originally taken him for. His skin was pale, and almost tinted with the green brine of the sea, and his eyes glowed with a sheen that indicated they were much more adapt to darkness than hers. The man’s black hair stood up in a strange flame, as if unaffected by gravity and the weight of the water that clearly drenched it.

He seemed to be as confused studying her, as she was by the sight of him. Those dark eyes watched her full of curiosity. After a silent moment passed between them, he seemed to judge her to be of no threat, for he slowly approached the boat. She’d been about to offer him a hand up onto the deck when his webbed hand had gripped the side of the schooner, rocking it slightly with his weight as he used it to pull himself closer to her.

“What… What are you?” She asked as she stared bewildered at the man. He was bare-chested, his strange skin covered in scars, but at his waist the human-like skin gave way to dark silver scales that seemed to continue down to a long powerful tail that vanished into the water.

“Are you the big, mean shark everyone is talking about?” She asked, reaching out a hand to cup his face. His skin was cool and wet to the touch, “You don’t seem all that scary.”

He stared at her in mesmerized silence for a long moment before quickly pulling away, diving back into the depth. Just as she’d decided that he was gone, the water had shattered as he breached the surface at an alarming speed, twisting through the air as if it were the very water he lived in. At the full sight of that powerful silver tail, Bulma had instantly known what sort of damage that strangely beautiful creature could do to a small fishing boat. She had expected this job to be just another rogue great white terrorizing local sailors. Never had she imagined that crazy ol’ seaman’s tales of merfolk would be true.

so not only i get hilarious fanarts, but also AMAZING FANFICTIONS ? YOU GUYS ARE THE FRICKING BEST I LOVE THIS
